Emma is known for her pragmatic and commercial approach to matrimonial finance with a growing reputation for her experience in dealing with complex or medium to high net worth cases. Emma is often counsel of choice in cases involving a family business or those with non-disclosure issues, trusts and pension features.
Emma is also briefed on TOLATA claims and applications under Schedule 1 of the Children Act as well as contested divorces and nullity.
Emma has been a director and shareholder of a SME and therefore has the advantage of having an in depth grasp of and understanding of the mechanics and ostensible complexities of cases involving businesses.
Emma has experience in assisted reproduction matters often involving parental order applications as well as other alternatives including adoption and child arrangement orders, many of which involve international surrogacy arrangements.
Examples of recent cases
Re FM (A Child)  EWCA Civ 189 - Represented a mother who appealed against a special guardianship order made in favour of the mother's sister. The case involved a variety of issues including significant mental health problems, drugs, and extremely complicated family dynamics. The Court of Appeal granted permission to the mother to appeal, however in its reserved judgement dismissed the appeal.
Re W 2014 - Represented a mother in an application for an interim care order with a plan for immediate removal of the child from the mother's care. Successfully defeated the application in its entirety despite opposition from the Guardian, an adult psychiatrist and a child psychologist.
Re: C – Successfully represented a father against allegations of rape and threats to kill
Re: G – Represented a mother in private law proceedings in which the child had made numerous sexual abuse disclosures against the father. Successfully proved the allegations and achieved a no contact order and s.91(14) bar
Re F - Successfully represented a mother in her application for a return order under the Hague Convention
