Garvin Nicholas is a non-practicing barrister at present as he now serves as the High Commissioner to the UK and Northern Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway and Sweden for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
In his new role, His Excellency is responsible for Trade and Investment, Tourism, Consular and Treaty matters pertaining to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. He also represents Trinidad and Tobago at Commonwealth, ICCO (International Cocoa Organization), IOPCF (International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds), IMO (International Maritime Organization) and ISO (international Sugar Organization) meetings.
His Excellency is a member of the Bar of England and Wales, Trinidad and Tobago and the Supreme Court of the Eastern Caribbean (Anguilla). He has had a wide and varied practice in Civil, Criminal, Commercial, Family and Constitutional Law. He continues to have a very keen interest in Asset Forfeiture and all enquiries in this respect should be directed to the Asset Forfeiture Group Clerk, David Phillips.
