Sports Law

Tom’s background is in both heavyweight criminal law and professional discipline. He is a sports fanatic and has experience of acting in high profile sports law cases. Most notably he represented (together with Robin Leach) the former world number 4 snooker player Stephen Lee in his appeal against his disqualification from the sport. He also has experience of horse racing cases (BHA v Stainton) and has provided advice in respect of a riding ban for an international speedway rider (Darcy Ward). He has also represented an ex-premiership and international footballer in relation to driving offences.

Tom provides advice to Football supporters groups in respect of banning orders and foreign travel bans. He also has a detailed knowledge of Police procedure and powers relating to sports events having been involved in criminal proceedings arising from violent disorder at the following matches: Bristol Rovers v Bristol City, Southampton FC v Portsmouth FC and Chelsea FC v Cardiff FC.

Tom is an avid Wimbledon AFC supporter and motor racing fan. He has competed in historic rallies including La Carrera Panamerica road race across Mexico and the Circuit of Ireland.
